Marriott International brings Loyalty Program to the South African Skies

Marriott Loyalty ProgramAirplanes and hotels have been two staples of the hospitality industry for decades. For itinerant business travelers and excited vacationers alike, both hotels and airlines often provide the perfect compliment. For marketers, this relationship provides the perfect opportunity to design a customer engagement strategy that meets consumer needs on a variety of fronts, and its one opportunity that Marriott International certainly does not intend to ignore.

To help passengers continue to fuel their travel passions, whether for business or pleasure, Marriott International has partnered with South African Airways (SAA) to increase the reach of its award winning loyalty program. Now Marriott Rewards, which encompasses 16 brands across over 4,000 properties worldwide, will allow members to exchange points for SAA Voyager miles.

"We are excited to launch this partnership with Marriott Rewards," said Suretha Cruse, SAA Customer Loyalty Executive. "Marriott Rewards includes hotels worldwide, most recently adding Protea Hotels, one of the leading African hotel groups, to the program. We are confident that this new partnership will really benefit our members."

Effective immediately, Marriott Rewards members need only to designate South African Airways as their earning preference to begin collecting Voyager miles. This includes two SAA Voyager miles per $1 US spent on qualifying hotel charges and room rate at select brands.

Marriott Rewards is widely recognized as one of the most valuable loyalty programs in the industry, and should be widely beneficial to SAA customers. Alongside earning points for stays at the brand’s extensive partnership Marriott Loyalty Programnetwork, Marriott Rewards members also receive a host of extra benefits including free Wi-Fi, mobile app check-in, and exclusive deals that become available when booking rooms through the official Marriott channel.
