Starwood Creates a Consistent Customer Experience by Expanding European Footprint

Back To Results

One of the keys to customer experience excellence is consistency. The ability for brands to offer the same high quality array of goods and services regardless of how, when or where a customer engages can help build customer loyalty by establishing trust. As one might imagine, this is also particularly important in the hotel and hospitality industry. Most guests, who may be traveling far from home, typically like to know what to expect while engaging with their favorite hotel brand.

For Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, one of the leading hotel and leisure companies in the world, strengthening its lead in the luxury hotel space means expanding its presence across Europe. Starwood plans to offer the same high level customer experience that guests have come to expect at its other properties all across the world through 18 new locations.

With 18 organic hotel openings now happening and over 30 hotels currently in development, Starwood will diversify its brand footprint in Italy, the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Russia, Turkey and France.

“Our strong growth in Europe was instrumental in Starwood’s record-breaking growth in 2015 as we continue to focus on high-quality portfolio growth in desirable and strategic destinations,” said Simon Turner, President of Global Development for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. “Our growth forecast for Europe is stronger than ever with over 30 hotels set to open across our 10 distinct lifestyle brands by 2020.”

Further bolstering its already impressive array of services, Starwood will also bring a cutting-edge lifestyle feel and revitalized customer experience to these new mid and upper scale hotel properties. This will include breath-taking water views and exciting urban vistas, and many will be in close proximity to some of Europe’s most notable landmarks including the Eiffel Tower and Avenue des Champs-Elysées.

“We maintained a steady transaction pace in 2015 with conversions driving almost 40 percent of new hotel signings across Europe, reflecting strong owner interest in our design-led brands and confidence in Starwood’s powerful global systems,” said Michael Wale, President, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East. “We are on track to open close to 10 hotels in Europe this year, introducing our distinct brands to more new markets, and continue to work with our partners on further investments in our existing Sheraton and Le Méridien hotels.”
